NWS Lake Charles weather update
Published 9:09 am Thursday, December 27, 2018
The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is closely monitoring a line of strong to severe storms moving through our region. There is a tornado watch out for most of our area, and it will likely be extended further east this morning.
Stay alert for tornado warnings, as they can come out at any time. If a tornado warning is issued for your area, stay indoors, away from windows, and protect yourself from flying debris.
The threat for severe weather will end from west to east as the day goes on. Southeast Texas should be out of the severe threat soon, southwest and central Louisiana will be out of the severe threat by this afternoon, but it will likely continue into the afternoon for parts of south central Louisiana.
One to three inches of rain is still expected, and windy conditions of 25 to 40 mph will continue until after the line of storms pass your region.
