Kingdom Zoo: Wildlife Center reaches milestone

Special to The Leader

The Kingdom Zoo: Wildlife Center, 1605 Strickland in Pinehurst, has reached a milestone.

Since their public opening in April, they have had more than 1,000 visitors.

“We are blown away by the public support and how many people are seeking us out. We are only open at this time two Saturdays per month and on each opening more and more people show up,” said Lisa Moore.

A ministry that works with hurting and at-risk children, the Wildlife Center is their public outreach and doubles as a place to encounter exotic animals and get wildlife education for the general public.

“We have been able to let kids meet some amazing animals and it is wonderful to see the smiles on their faces,” Moore said.

The organization last weekend also reached another milestone, granting its 20th “Wild Wish” for the program where they grant exotic animal encounters for children who love a parent or sibling or have a terminal illness.

“Our building on the corner of Martin and Strickland has been strategic in allowing us to grant these children’s wishes. We have been able to open what we hope are life changing relationships with the children and their families and are excited to serve the children facing challenges in Southeast Texas and beyond,” Moore said.
