TENNISON TOURNEY: Bobcats cruise past Liberty

ORANGEFIELD – There was some nice action at the first day of the Tennison Tournament out in Orangefield.

The host Bobcats scooted past the Liberty Panthers 75-48 in their first game of the tourney.

The Bobcats (6-6) controlled the game early on, jumping out to a 14-6 by the end of the first quarter and 34-22 by the half.

Orangefield didn’t let up in the second half as they outscored the Panthers 41-26 to cruise to the victory.

Daniel Durbin led a balanced Bobcat attack with 15 points and six rebounds. Bryce Bergeron filtered in 14 points for Orangefield. Heston Puckett tallied 10 points. Chase Broussard had nine points while point guard Clayson Chaote contributed eight points and six boards. Kaiden DuBose had five rebounds and five assists for the Bobcats while Tyler Greenwood added seven points.

Johnny Hines led the Panthers with 13 points. Javion Carter and Elijah Terrell tallied nine points apiece. Devin Fregia paced Liberty with a game-high seven rebounds while Carter hauled down six.

The Bobcat pressure wore down the Panthers, who committed 28 turnovers. The Bobcats had just 16 turnovers. The Bobcats finished with a 38-23 rebounding edge.

The West Orange-Stark Mustangs dropped a 54-44 decision to the Huffman Falcons at the tourney.

The Mustangs led 33-31 going into the fourth quarter but Huffman finished the contest with a 23-11 spurt.

The Falcons drained 12-of-13 free throws in the fourth quarter alone while the Mustangs only had two attempts the whole game, making both.

Jacob Harvey led the Falcons with a game-high 23 points and was 8-of-9 from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter. Luke Thomas had 14 points and five boards as well for the Falcons.

Jalon Ross paced the Mustang offense with 13 points and six rebounds. Labarius Spraggins contributed 11 points and five boards while Dylan Spencer added six points and Shemar Manaway had five rebounds. The Mustangs finished with a 26-21 rebounding edge.

WO-S led 11-8 after the first quarter and 22-18 at the half.

 

LC-M boys

SOUR LAKE – The LC-M Bears fell to Longview Spring Hill 72-43 in their first game at the Hardin-Jefferson Marathon Tournament Thursday.

Brendon Bones led the Bears with 10 points.
