Lady Bears roll by WO-S to nab perfect 22-4A season

LITTLE CYPRESS — Finishing up a perfect District 22-4A season, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears downed the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs 16-1 in three innings at Lady Bear Field Thursday night on Senior Night.
The top-ranked Lady Bears (27-2, 12-0) picked up nine hits and sent 15 batters to the plate to score 12 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 12-1 lead.
Bailey Frenzel had three hits and hit two home runs to drive in five runs while Renna Toomey also had three hits and drove in a run.
Toomey nabbed the win on the Lady Bear hill as she allowed one hit while striking out four and walking two.
The Lady Bears got it going off WO-S starter Haylee Veitch in the bottom of the first.
JoAnna Henry drew a walk and Brianna Frenzel, who had two hits, smashed a two-run home run over the left centerfield fence.
After Bailey Frenzel singled, Toomey roped a RBI double to centerfield. Megan Peveto brought in a run with a RBI double to right center. The Lady Bears then scored two runs on an error to go up 6-1. Madison Murdock scored on a passed ball and Henry made it 8-1 with a single past third base.
The Lady Bears added another run on an error and Bailey Frenzel capped it with a three-run home run bomb over the centerfield fence to make it 12-1.
LC-M added four runs in the bottom of the third.
Ally White, who had two hits, had a leadoff double to center and scored off a Brianna Frenzel single to left. Bailey Frenzel then cranked out a two-run homer over the centerfield wall again. After Toomey singled, Morgan Weaver ended the game with a sharp RBI double.
The Lady Bears finished with 15 hits.
The Lady Mustangs (0-12 in district) scored their run in the top of the first frame. Gabby Tims drew a lead off walk and swiped second and scored when Aaliyah Mims ripped a RBI double to the centerfield wall.
Now the Lady Bears will await the playoffs which start next week. The Lady Bears will face the fourth-place team out of District 21-4A in the bidistrict round.
