Big Thicket Day 2017 at Big Thicket National Preserve Visitor’s Center set for Saturday

The Annual Big Thicket Day, hosted by the Big Thicket Association and the Big Thicket National Preserve, will be held at the Big Thicket National Preserve’s Visitors Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Big Thicket Visitors Center is located 8 miles north of Kountze at HWY 69 and FM 420.
Big Thicket Day is a free event that is open to the public and will offer an opportunity for families to visit the preserve and celebrate the creation of Big Thicket National Preserve.
There will be activities for the entire family including kid’s activities, booths by area conservation organizations, and guest speakers. Benjamin Jones, Dean of Wild Earth Academy at the Dallas Zoo, will be the Keynote Speaker.
Visitors will be able to meet Big Thicket authors and have their books signed. Guest can bring a picnic and have lunch on the Visitor Center grounds and go on a Ranger led hike in the Preserve. Snacks and water will also be available at no charge, during the event.
