BC’s Simon nets 24-4A tennis title for 2nd straight year

Bridge City’s Brandon Simon stormed his way to the District 24-4A Boys Tennis title for the second straight year.
Simon defeated Hardin-Jefferson’s Corey Nobles 6-0, 6-1 in the championship match.
Simon also defeated West Orange-Stark’s Dwaun Guidry 6-0, 6-0 in the second round and downed Silsbee’s Reese Smithheart 6-1 in the semifinals.
Hardin-Jefferson’s Josie Legato won the Girls Singles, defeating teammate Kaitlyn Gans 6-1, 6-4 in the Championship match.
In girls doubles, the Hamshire-Fannett tandem of Matlin Starnes and Morgan Starnes edged out Orangefield’s Abby Green and Ashlyn Turley 6-4, 6-3 in the title match but the Lady Bobcat duo of Green and Turley will advance to regionals.
Silsbee’s Ryan Martinez and Keleigh Trabing won the Mixed Doubles, defeating Bridge City’s Jordan Curl and Sarah Kidder 6-2, 6-0 in the title match. Curl and Kidder will both being heading to regionals as well.
In boys doubles, the Bridge City duo of Toby Mattia and Devan Ramsey will also be heading to regionals after placing second.
