Over 150 people throughout the community joined together to volunteer for a Day of Caring.
Originally, United Way of Orange County had scheduled the day as a way to help out its local agencies. However, TS Imelda changed that and seven homes were added to the day’s projects.
“It is another way of giving back and helping those agencies we partner with,” United Way of Orange President and CEO Maureen McAllister said. “Michelle Tubblleville, of Orange County Disaster Recovery, will tell you, it starts local and ends local. It is on us to put the community where it needs to be.”
Volunteers helped with trim work for CASA and a food pantry for the Salvation Army as well as seven homes flooded during Imelda.
