ORANGEFIELD — It was misty and slick at the Orangefield Softball Tournament Thursday but games were getting played in the chill.
The host Lady Bobcats defeated the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs 10-0 in four innings to crank up the tournament.
It took the Lady Bobcats a bit to get their offense going but when they did, they had two big innings.
Orangefield scored three runs in the bottom of the third and seven more in the bottom of the fourth to turn back the Lady Mustangs.
Lady Bobcat pitcher Codie Sorge worked all four innings as she scattered two hits while striking out seven.
The Lady Mustangs got both their hits in the top of the first frame, two-out singles. LaToya Janice slapped a single to shallow leftfield and Caranaysha Angelle followed with a single between short and third but Sorge got out of the jam by recording a strikeout.
Lady Mustang pitcher Haylee Veitch worked all four innings for the Lady Mustangs, allowing seven hits while walking six.
In the bottom of the third, Lady Bobcat Ryden Stanfield drew a walk, swiped second and scored off an error by WO-S off of a grounder hit by Alaina Dodd.
Lady Bobcat catcher Emma Humplik then planted a two-run home run blast over the leftfield fence to give the Lady Bobcats a 3-0 edge.
Orangefield got hotter with the bats in the bottom of the fourth.
Heather Miner drew a leadoff walk and Tiffany Ciancaglione followed with a deep double to left. Miner scored on a passed ball to make it 4-0.
After Hanna Dupuis drew a walk, the Lady Bobcats completed a double steal as Ciancaglione darted in to score.
Stanfield made it 6-0 with a sharp RBI double to right and she would score off a Alyssa Dodd RBI groundout to make it 7-0.
The Lady Bobcats followed by scoring on a wild pitch, a passed ball and a Ciancaglione RBI single to centerfield.
