Four People Injured in Multiple Vehicle Crash on FM 105

PRESS RELEASE — On September 19, 2018, at approximately 4 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a multiple vehicle crash on FM 105 in Orange County. The crash occurred North of Vidor, near J3 Metal salvage yard.
Preliminary reports indicate that a passenger vehicle was stopped in the northbound traffic lane waiting to make a left turn into a private driveway. A 2003 Nissan SUV was traveling northbound on FM 105. The driver of the Nissan attempted to pass the stopped vehicle to the left and collided head-on with a 2002 Mazda passenger vehicle.
The driver of the Nissan, 57-year-old John Jones of Vidor, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital. His injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
The driver of the Mazda, 38-year-old William O’hanlon of Beaumont, and his front passenger, Cynthia Herrington of Thicket, were both transported by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.
The third passenger in the Mazda, a 10-year-old child, was also transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
