UPDATE: Pedestrian killed in auto/pedestrian collision

UPDATE:

The Texas Department of Public Safety can confirm that Jason Ray Bawsher, 41, of Orange, Texas was the pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 10 in Orange County.
Bawsher was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Rodney Price.

PRESS RELEASE – On August 26, 2017, at approximately 11:40 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to an auto-pedestrian crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County.  The crash occurred within the city limits of Orange, Texas.

Preliminary reports indicate that a pedestrian was walking eastbound on Interstate 10 when he was struck by an unknown vehicle.  The vehicle failed to stop and render aid and continued eastbound on Interstate 10.

The pedestrian, a 41-year-old man from Orange, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Rodney Price.  The deceased victim’s name will not be released until the next of kin has been notified.

This is an ongoing crash investigation as Troopers work to determine the exact factors that contributed to this fatal crash.
