Multiple Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10 near Asher Turnaround in Orange County Sunday

At approximately 3:50p.m., Sunday, the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a multiple vehicle crash involving a truck tractor semi-trailer on Interstate 10. The crash occurred in the westbound traffic lanes of Interstate 10 near the Asher Turnaround in Orange County.
A 2007 Peterbuilt truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling westbound in the middle lane of Interstate 10. As the driver of the 18-wheeler slowed for stopped traffic, the vehicle was struck from behind by a 2009 Honda Civic.
The driver of the Honda, 27-year-old Steven Collins of Seabrook, Texas, was transported by ambulance to Baptist hospital in Beaumont. His injuries did not appear to be life threatening. The driver of the 18-wheeler, Randall Johnson (49) of Deberry, Texas, was not injured in the crash.
Collins was issued a traffic citation for failure to control speed.
Due to the crash, westbound lanes of Interstate 10 were closed for about an hour, but have since reopened.
