The National Hurricane Center is continuing to monitor the remnants of Pacific Tropical Storm Amanda over the Yucatan Peninsula. The remnants are forecasted to be over the Bay of Campeche later today, and there is a 90 percent chance of tropical cyclone development over the next couple of days. It’s possible that the system could become a tropical depression or even a tropical storm later today or tonight.
This system will likely move very little over the next several days. There is considerable uncertainty regarding its organization, intensity and track for late this week through early next week. The best advice is to stay vigilant and be prepared. Be careful with longer range single track weather models that can change significantly from one day to the next.
