VIDOR — Vidor City Council will hold a special meeting Monday where they will review applications for the position of city manager and possibly appoint someone to the job.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Vidor City Hall, 1395 N. Main St.

Rod Carroll, who has served as interim city manager since May with the retirement of Robbie Hood, said the city performed an internal search via web and through the Texas Municipal League and received 10 resumes. The resumes came from across the state and one was from Kansas.

Council is moving forward with interviews of two candidates on Monday to be done in executive session.

Also on Monday, council will consider accepting Carroll’s letter of resignation as interim city manager. Carroll has served as Vidor Police Chief since 2017 and on Monday he was appointed as Nederland Police Chief.

Nederland Police Chief Gary Porter retired from his post May 31 after almost 50 years in law enforcement and seven years as chief.
