Man indicted for aggravated assault for striking woman with tire iron

Tyler DeShawn Lewis, 21, of Orange, was indicted by the Jefferson County Grand Jury on Wednesday for aggravated assault for an incident which occurred on December 19, 2019 in Port Arthur.
According to a probable cause affidavit, during an incident where a part of a woman’s ear was bitten off by another assailant, Lewis took a four-way tire iron from another person at the scene and struck the woman in the head several times.
The persons were followed by the victim to an apartment complex in Orange and detained by Orange Police Department.
Aggravated assault is a second degree felony.
Indictment is not be considered as evidence of guilt and that all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
