BRIDGE CITY – The Bridge City Lady Cardinals squeezed out a 7-6 victory over the Nederland Lady Bulldogs at Lady Cardinal Field to kick off their 2020 softball campaign, handing first-year head coach Raven Cole her first career win.

Madyson Melton tossed 5 1/3 innings and had six strikeouts while Austyn Daniels tossed 1 2/3 innings and fanned two.

Marlee Strong had a double and two runs batted in for the Lady Cardinals while Aspen Daniels had a double and a RBI.

The Lady Cardinals will compete in the Lufkin Tournament Thursday through Saturday.
