PRESS RELEASE — Wow, what a week we have had. We have earned our keep last week. Let’s see what it was about.
Received a 911 call about an easement problem with neighbors. When the smoke cleared, a couple of people got run over and were all sent to hospital. This whole mess took place on private property. According to witness, everyone was drunk and nobody hurt too bad. Booze does strange things to people. We still investigating.
Had a structure fire on Hwy 12 in Deweyville. Deputy Matt Wonders was directing traffic when a possible drunk driver hit him. The driver left the scene. Officer’s got him located in Orange county. He was talked out of the house and arrested. Lots of serious charges filed. He is still in jail. Deputy Wonders is ok. He was transported and released from medical facility in Orange.
We are looking into the death of a 50-year-old female. She had been sick but this needs to be looked into. Please remember the Amanda Carter family in your prayers.
Received a call about a family feud. Seems someone let his stepdad claim him on his income tax and when his tax return came in, stepdad refused to give him any of the money.
What can I say?
We had a 911 call about a 7-month-old that was crying and turning blue. All officers on deck. Chief Deputy Hall and Sergeant Laird loaded child up and headed to Jasper Hospital. Ambulance out of Jasper headed this way. Child stopped breathing a time or two. Make a long story short, all ended good. Great job Cynthia and Barry.
Gotta go. Thought for the week: Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. Ya’ll have a great week and if we can help, just holler. God Bless.
