Man jumps off overpass while fleeing from police

An Orange County Sheriffs Deputy car was totaled late Thursday night after being hit by a fleeing suspect.
Around 11 p.m., Jefferson County authorities attempted to stop a vehicle which fled into Beaumont then Hardin County.
The person then turned around and headed back into Jefferson County before heading towards Orange County.
As an Orange County Deputy attempted to set up spike strips to disable the suspect vehicle near Main Street and Interstate 10 in Vidor, the person attempted to strike the deputy with the vehicle.
The deputy was able to escape the collision without being struck.
After the crash, the suspect than jumped out of his vehicle and jumped off the overpass.
The man fell about 20 feet and was critically injured. He was taken to a Beaumont hospital for treatment.
No other injuries were reported.
Multiple agencies assisted in the chase.
