HOOP ROUNDUP: Cats rolling at Wallis-Brazos Tourney

BRAZOS – The Orangefield Bobcats have notched three wins at the Wallis-Brazos Tournament thus far. On Thursday they defeated Vanderbilt Industrial 48-33 and downed YES Prep 63-43. And early on Friday they toppled Conroe Grand Oaks 70-30.
Against Industrial the Bobcats (5-2) jumped out to a 16-7 lead and stretched it to 31-15 by halftime.
Cade Prejean led the Bobcats with 12 points while Coy Bryant had 10.
Post Valentin Catt contributed nine points, 11 rebounds, eight blocked shots and five assists while Kaiden DuBose had six points and two steals.
Against YES Prep, Catt had 19 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. Bryce Bergeron, Cade Prejean and Chase Broussard each scored seven points.
Against Grand Oaks, Catt chimed in with 24 points and five rebounds. Prejean had nine points and eight steals. Tyrone Waggoner claimed six points and six assists while Colby Gonzales had seven rebounds.
LC-M girls
BEAUMONT – The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears notched a thrilling 42-38 overtime win over the Legacy Lady Warriors at Warriors Gym Tuesday night.
Zaria Johnson led the Lady Bears with nine points and sank 7-of-10 free-throws, none bigger than the four straight she hit during the extra session.
Chelsea Perry filtered in eight points, snagged eight rebounds, four steals, four blocks and two assists.
Post Karly Rogers had six points and five rebounds. Brittney Wyatt posted six points, four rebounds and four assists. Genesis Barclay contributed five points, six boards and had two blocks and Brielle Butler chimed in with five points, five rebounds and four assists.
The Lady Bears split a pair of gams at the Evadale Tournament Thursday, downing Good Samaritan Fellowship 53-9 and then they fell to PN-G 41-33.
Against GSF, Karly Rogers led the way with 12 points while Chelsea Perry and Brielle Butler scored eight points apiece and Zoe Levens added seven.
Against PN-G, Brittney Wyatt had 10 points and six rebounds. Perry had nine points and six boards and Rogers added ight points.
WO-S girls
WEST ORANGE – The West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs, led by point guard Diamond Judge’s 22 points and nine rebounds, turned back the Evadale Lady Rebels 53-35 Tuesday night.
Lady Mustang post Marlandria Hebert notched a double-double, tallying 20 points while snagging 10 rebounds. Alissa Brown added five points and a team-high 12 boards.
BC girls
BRIDGE CITY – The Bridge City Lady Cardinals toppled the East Chambers Lady Bucs 52-48 in overtime Tuesday night.
Madison Fischer led the Lady Cardinals (7-3) with 16 points and hit a shot at the end of regulation to send the game into the extra session.
Rylee Oceguera had 14 points for the Lady Cardinals while Hannah Wiegreffe yanked down 12 rebounds.
The Lady Cardinals will be in the Deweyville Tournament Thursday through Saturday.
LC-M boys
BEAUMONT — The LC-M Bears fell to Grace Prep 67-53 in their first game at the Nederland/YMBL Classic Thursday.
Braden Bridges led the Bears (1-5) with 25 points while Jackson Smith contributed 14.
