Innovative Air Solutions has teamed up with Granger Chevrolet to host a benefit to raise funds for the Pinehurst Police Department.

Giving back to the community is a goal for Innovative Air Solutions in 2018, according to a letter sent out to local businesses concerning the upcoming fundraiser.

“We wanted to help the police department because they are the ones who protect our families,” Robert Currie, owner, said. “We wanted to show we back the blue.”

Men and women in blue need gear essential to their positions to help better serve the community. Innovative Air decided it is a good idea to help supply the department through a fundraiser.

The Barbecue Fundraiser is from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 17 in front of the Pinehurst Police Department on MLK in Pinehurst.

The meal will consist of link, chips and a drink for $8.

Delivery of ten or more meals is available.

“This is not to offset city expenditures,” City Administrator Robbie Hood said. “We are capable of taking care of the needs of the employees and the safety needs of our staff.”

Hood said Innovative Air and Granger Chevrolet approached the city about the fundraiser.

“They wanted to give back to the men and women in blue and show their support,” Hood said. “They wanted to do something for the Police Department.”

Hood added the city portion of the sales tax has been up the previous three months and has increased by 25-percent this year compared to the same time last year.

“There are no budgetary constraints,” Hood said. “This is no different than a Fill the Boot campaign just at a fixed location.”
