FANNETT — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears stayed in the hunt for the District 22-4A title Friday night by escaping Hamshire-Fannett with a 7-5 victory over the Longhorns.
The Bears (25-5, 7-2) built up a 4-0 lead only to see the Longhorns (8-15, 1-8) snag a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth.
The Bears answered with two runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh to nail down the win.
LC-M remains one game back of first-place Bridge City (19-7-1, 8-1) with one game remaining. A Bridge City loss at home to Orangefield Tuesday and a LC-M win at home against H-F would force a tie for the 22-4A title.
Michael Lee had two hits and two RBI for the Bears while Chris Bilbo had a pair of hits and drove in a run.
The Bears finished with nine hits while the Longhorns had seven.
Anthony Bandiero tossed five innings for the Bears and had five strikeouts. Kyle Saurage had three hits for the Longhorns while Zach Newby had two RBI.
