ORANGEFIELD — It was a tough outing for the Orangefield Lady Bobcats in the championship game of their Tennison Tournament Saturday as they fell to a loaded Hardin-Jefferson Lady Hawks team 71-34.

The Lady Hawks jumped out to a 18-4 advantage in the first quarter and never looked back against the Lady Bobcats, who had a cold-shooting effort in the title game after notching big wins earlier in the tournmanent.

H-J outscored the Lady Bobcats 21-13 in the second period to go up 39-17 at the half and then went on a 22-4 run to go up by 61-21 at the end of the third period.

Tunisa Strong led the H-J attack with a double-double, scoring 20 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. Alexis Wheeler also had a double-double for H-J, scoring 11 points while grabbing 10 boards. Cheyenne Trahan contributed 10 points while Velberta Guillory had eight for the Lady Hawks.

Post Cameron Choate paced the Lady Bobcat arsenal with 15 points and eight rebounds while Faith Fregia tallied eight points. Tatum Garlington hauled in seven rebounds while Jayme Deutsch added five.

The Lady Hawks finished with a 36-27 rebounding edge. Orangefield had 21 turnovers while H-J had just 10. Both teams struggled from the free-throw line. Orangefield was 10-of-23 while the Lady Hawks went 10-for-25.

The Lady Bobcats turned back Evadale 55-37 in the semifinals as they went on a 29-13 run in the second half to pull away.

Chaote powered the attack again by tallying 16 points and snaring nine rebounds. Emmi Lummus filtered in 17 points and grabbed four boards. Fregia had 14 points.

Michaela Terry had a big game for the Lady Rebels, scoring 25 points and snagging 11 rebounds. She scored 23 points in the first half but was saddled with foul trouble before fouling out early in the fourth quarter. Leanna Bishop added six points for Evadale.

The Lady Bobcats finished with a 24-17 rebounding edge. The Lady Bobcats forced 20 Evadale turnovers while only committing 11.

Orangeifeld went 20-of-31 from the free-throw line while Evadale was 10-of-14.

On Friday the Lady Bobcats downed FTCA 61-25 and Nederland 45-28.

Against FTCA Faith Fregia poured in 24 points and had four rebounds. Cameron Choate had 16 points, seven rebounds and three steals and Emmi Lummus had nine points, seven steals and five assists.

In the win over Nederland, Choate had a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Fregia posted nine points and four steals. Taylor Decker collected eight points and four boards while Jayme Deutsch had seven points and five boards.
