Rattlers trip up Cardinals

NAVASOTA — The Navasota Rattlers kept themselves alive for the District 10-4A Division I title by downing the Bridge City Cardinals 33-6 Friday night at Rattler Stadium.
The Rattlers (5-4, 3-1) will visit Little Cypress-Mauriceville (4-3, 3-1) for a chance at the district title with Silsbee (4-4, 3-1) , who plays Cleveland, also in the mix.
The Cardinals (1-6, 1-3) can still clinch a playoff berth for the third consecutive season if they can defeat Huffman (3-5, 1-3) at home next Friday.
Navasota got it going early as quarterback Jeb Malek connected with receiver Ladadrian Walker on a 23-yard touchdown toss.
Malek made it 14-0 with 13-yard touchdown scamper.
The Rattlers increased their lead to 20-0 when Malek hit receiver Quantavius Moore on a seven-yard strike.
Malek scored on another touchdown keeper. Going in from three yards out to make it 27-0.
The Rattlers upped the margin to 33-0 as Malek tossed a 85-yard touchdown to Ronnie Jackson.
Back Rylan Ply had the Cardinals’ score when he found the end zone from 10 yards out.
