The Orangefield Independent School District appeal of the district accountability rating has been granted. The rating for the school district is now “MET STANDARD”. District administrators filed the appeal of the district accountability rating for the 2015-2016 school year. Orangefield ISD initially received a rating of “IMPROVEMNET REQUIRED”. The appeal was field with the Texas Education Agency on September 26, 2016, according to a press release from the school district.

The school district appeal regarded Index 4 – Postsecondary Readiness of the accountability system. It was discovered the component score for Index 4 was negatively impacted by a Career and Technical Education (CTE) data discrepancy attributed to a software issue. The Texas Education Agency acknowledged the discrepancy in reporting data and concluded the change in rating was warranted.

The school district would like to thank the Texas Education Agency and Commissioner Mike Morath for considering ad approving the appeal. The change in rating accurately reflects the accomplishments of the students and staff of Orangefield ISD. The Texas Education Agency will update its website and accountability products in November 2016 after resolving all appeals within the state.

The school district rating and all three campuses have now achieved the highest rating available in the current accountability system.
