AUSTIN – Westbound lanes of I-10 at the Texas-Louisiana border reopened this evening three days after the road was closed due to rising waters. Water has receded and the Texas Department of Transportation has monitored and inspected affected areas, determining repairs were not needed in the westbound lanes. The eastbound lanes of I-10 were undergoing repairs and expected to reopen soon when it was determined safe to do so.
Please visit www.DriveTexas.org or call 1-800-452-9292 for current road status and follow @TxDOT on Twitter and TxDOT on Facebook for announcements about the eastbound lanes opening.
If you are driving in areas where water is crossing the road, remember #TurnAroundDontDrown.
TxDOT thanks the traveling public for its patience during this emergency and state, local, and county officials on both sides of the state line for their collaboration during the recent floods.
