Vidor bicyclist dies in Orange County crash

ORANGE COUNTY— A 59-year-old bicyclist has died after he was struck by the side mirror of a truck Sunday night.
Preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 11:51 a.m., a Ford F-150 was traveling south on FM 105 near FM 1132. It is reported that a bicyclist was traveling on the improved shoulder, crossed the street in front of the Ford and was struck by the Ford’s passenger side mirror, according to information from Texas Department of Public Safety.

The driver and one passenger of the Ford were not injured.
The bicyclist was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The bicyclist succumbed to injuries sustained during the crash and was pronounced deceased by medical staff.
He was identified as 59-year-old Lawrence Claypool of Vidor.
