Local boxer O’Shaquie Foster is bringing his community-focused spirit back to Orange with his third annual “Back to School Bash,” set for this Saturday. The event will provide more than 550 backpacks filled with school supplies, as well as food, bounce houses, snow cones, raffles, and photo opportunities with one of Foster’s championship belts.

“This isn’t just about school supplies,” Foster said. “It’s about giving the kids something to look forward to and bringing some hope to the city.”

Foster, a professional fighter and Orange native, launched the event in 2022 as a way to give back to his hometown. Each year, attendance has grown, and the community has come to see the event as more than just a giveaway.

“We’re a small town, and there’s not a lot here that sticks,” he said. “I just want to be someone who brings something back.”

The event also includes free entertainment for children and their families, including bounce houses and music.

Foster hopes to inspire local youth through his own story, showing that success and service can go hand in hand.

“People have started asking about the event months ahead of time now,” he said. “That tells me we’re making an impact.”

The bash is free and open to the public.
