1 dead following Vidor shooting

VIDOR — A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman in Vidor.

At approximately 10:35 p.m. Thursday, Vidor 911 Communications Center received a call reporting someone had been shot at a residence in the 1900 block of Hickory Street. Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene, according to a news release from interim Chief Rodney Johnson.

Social media comments on the Vidor Police Department’s news release noted the incident occurred on Hickory Drive, not street. The Leader called VPD and was awaiting confirmation of the address as well as names of the alleged suspect and deceased at press time. 

Upon arrival at the scene, officers were met outside the residence by an adult white male. The individual was detained without incident.

Officers then entered the home and located an adult white female who was deceased.

The male was transported to the police department, where he was interviewed by detectives. Following the interview, he was placed under arrest in connection with the incident.

At this time, the identity of the deceased female is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
