VIDOR – Vidor High School’s Riley Marlow etched his name in the record books this weekend, becoming a two-time State Champion in the 220-pound weight class at the State Powerlifting Meet with an astonishing 1,940-pound total—a new state record.
Marlow’s powerhouse performance included a 755-pound squat, a 515-pound bench press (also a state record), and a 670-pound deadlift. His extraordinary efforts earned him both the Best Deadlift Award and the Best Lifter Award, highlighting him as one of the most dominant athletes at the competition.
The Vidor Boys Powerlifting Team proudly sent three lifters to represent at State: Riley Marlow, Sebastian Rendon, and Campton Seymore. Each of these young men represented Vidor with strength, determination, and sportsmanship.
“We’re incredibly proud of Riley and the entire powerlifting team,” said Rodney Burks, Vidor High School Head Coach. “To come home with not just a championship, but multiple state records and individual honors is a testament to the hard work these young men put in every day.”
Congratulations to our Pirates for making their mark at the state level!
