Orangefield ISD board of trustees announced in its March 11 meeting that it has appointed Ronald Risinger to fill the vacant position left by Marc Wernig after he resigned following a second DWI.
Risingers will serve as interim board members whose term will end in November 2026.
Risinger is an orthodontist in the southeast Texas area and has served two terms on the board before, with the most recent being another filling of a vacant board position in 2024.
“ The board looks forward to collaborating with Dr. Risinger to ensure the ongoing success of our students and community. We also want to express our sincere gratitude to all the community members who inquired about the vacancy and met with our board members. Your engagement and interest in serving our students are deeply appreciated,” stated the Board of Trustees in a statement posted on social media.
The position was left vacant by Marc Werning, who was arrested after receiving a second DWI charge. The board was set to begin discussions on how to address the situation before learning Werning handed in his resignation on the morning of Feb. 24.
