Barking dog leads to discovery of overturned Jeep, deceased man

MAURICEVILLE — The cause of death of a man who was found in an overturned vehicle in Orange County is pending autopsy results.
The rollover crash was discovered Monday by a resident in the 1500 block of Texla Road in Mauriceville after the person kept hearing a constantly barking dog.
A deceased man was in the Jeep, which was found on private property.
A dog that was with the man had to be tranquilized in order for first responders to approach, police said.
The dog was later released to a friend of the family, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Captain Joey Jacobs.
The name of the deceased is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
The Sheriff’s Office received the call at approximately 10:36 a.m. Monday.
