Weather Service shares outlook for severe storms this week across Southeast Texas

A low-pressure system is moving across Southeast Texas today and will bring scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms.
Severe storms are expected Monday afternoon to evening hours.
A Slight Risk of severe weather exists across parts of interior SETX and parts of Central Louisiana.

A Marginal Risk exists for parts of SETX down to the coast and parts of SWLA.
Texas will experience a total eclipse today and (along with it) an influx of tourists and packed highways… with over a million people expected to travel through our state to witness the rare total solar eclipse.
Motorists should expect major delays and allow for extra travel time. They should also plan to arrive at their destinations early, stay put during (and after) the eclipse on Monday afternoon, drive with extreme caution and avoid any distractions when they’re behind the wheel.
In 2023, there were 94,330 distracted driving-related traffic crashes in Texas, resulting in nearly 400 fatalities and 2,700 serious injuries– all because a motorist was distracted by their cell phone, car radio, navigation system, passengers, etc..
The low-pressure system will strike again Tuesday afternoon and overnight that evening.
On Wednesday, scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will be ongoing with activity beginning to move out of the area from west to east Wednesday afternoon to evening.
