Gillet makes All-Decade unit

Wendy Gillet, the former 5-time LHSAA Coaches 1st Team All-State, 4-time Louisiana Sports Writers 1st Team All-State, 3-time All-Southwest Louisiana 1st Team, 5-year member of the Softball Factory National Team and 2-time All-American while playing for Coach Jack Miller and the Starks High School Lady Panthers was recently named to the “Lake Charles American Press All-Decade Softball Team (2010-2019) for Small Schools (Class 2A-C) in Southwest Louisiana”.

Gillet made the team as a pitcher after leading the Lady Panthers to three (3) straight semi-finals. Her pitching stats for her career included GP-82; IP-496.2; SO-431; W-44, L-33, T-1, SV-4; and ERA-.280. She also pitched 3 No-Hitters her Senior Year (2015).

Her 5-year hitting stats included GP-123; AB-378; H-181; 1B-88; 2B-69 (school record); 3B-18; HR-6 (school record); SO-12 (school record for least number); SB-23 out of 23; BA-.479; OBP-.542; SLG-.804; and In Play-.968.

After her graduation in 2015, she played 4 years at Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana. While at Centenary, she led all freshmen in all offensive categories and was runner-up for “Newcomer of the Year” in 2016. She also set numerous school records for her career which include GP-163; AB-464; 2B-53; SF-12; Fielding Chances-1058; Fielding Putouts-1015; Fielding Percentage-.988; and Double Plays-32.

She made the “SCAC All-Conference Team” in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and the “SCAC All-Tournament Team” in 2018. She also made the “SCAC Academic All-Conference Team” in 2016, 2017, and 2019. She made the “Dean’s List” in the Fall-2018 and Spring-2018.

Wendy is currently teaching 1st Grade at West Orange-Stark Elementary and working on her Master’s Degree in Education (online) from LSU.
