City of Pinehurst was facing an election during the disaster until council opted to postpone the general municipal election from May 2 to the next election date of November 3, 2020 due to the coronavirus.
Council met by teleconference due to the regulations stating 10 or more people may not congregate as the area continues to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
If the city moved forward with the election, it would have had to pay for the equipment and not have the assistance of Orange County Election Administration as Orange County Commissioners Court had previously approved delaying the elections.
