A hung jury did not delay the sentencing for Diante Armstrong on Wednesday morning.
While the jury was unable to reach a verdict, Armstrong pleaded no contest to aggravated robbery and cruelty to animal charges.
He was sentenced to 10 years for both charges by the judge. The sentencing will run concurrently.
“The state is ok with the verdict considering the circumstances,” Assistant District Attorney Krispen Walker said.
Armstrong’s mother, with tears in her eyes, said, “Thankful for the jury and how they listened and decided the case. I am thankful for everyone in Orange County that was involved with the case. I thank God for a job well done.”
