Woman dies in auto-pedestrian crash on State Hwy. 62

PRESS RELEASE — On May 3, 2019, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to an auto-pedestrian crash on State Hwy. 62 in Orange County.  The crash occurred just North of  Farm to Market Road 105.

Initial reports indicate that a GMC pickup truck was traveling northbound on State Hwy. 62.

A pedestrian was standing in the turn lane and walked into the path of the pickup.  The driver of the GMC was unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian.

The pedestrian, 56-year-old Cindy Williams of Orange, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital; however, she did not survive her injuries.  Williams was pronounced deceased by emergency room personnel a short time later.

The driver of the GMC pickup truck, Savanah Robbins, 24, of Buna, and her three passengers were not injured in the crash.

This is an ongoing investigation and there are no additional details available at this time.
