The day finally arrived; relatives flew in to be in attendance for Sarah’s graduation, she was graduating with her Doctorate as a Surgeon. Her parents were filled with excitement as they watched their only daughter march across the stage. Sarah was a beautiful young lady, who sacrificed eight years of her life to achieve this great honor. As her name was called, there were cheers from the crowd as her parents wept with joy.
After the ceremony, Sarah walked quietly to the car. Her parents asked… “why are you so quiet?… you don’t seem happy”.
She replied, “I did that for you, I hope you’re satisfied, now I can go fulfill my purpose”.
What a story!
There are many people who are just like Sarah, living life on other people’s terms. Perhaps you have lived your life just like Sarah…fulfilling the purpose of others and allowing other people to live vicariously through you. If your story is like hers, there is good news for you! The good news is, you have a PURPOSE and there is still time to PURSUE it! I welcome you to continue reading so you can begin living a life of purpose and fulfillment.
Ecclesiastes 3:1(New King James Version) says: “To everything, there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven”.
What is Purpose? Purpose is the original intent in which the manufacturer was motivated to create a thing. Purpose can only be found in the mind of the maker! Everything was created with a specific purpose in mind, yes, including YOU! When you know your purpose, you will never procrastinate! Purpose brings precision, it causes you to live with a sense of urgency, purpose gives life meaning and gives you responsibility. The enemy cannot destroy a person who knows their purpose!
No manufacturer designs a product with the intent for it to fail, instead, it is the opposite. The manufacturer created the product to succeed.
That is good news, that tells me, that my success is good for God, He is our Manufacturer and He created us to succeed in life. Success is measured by you fulfilling the assignment God gave you to do, not by another person’s opinion of you or by how much you have accumulated. You will only be fulfilled when you do what you were born to do, and what you were born to do is your purpose. This is an innate feeling that only you can measure whether it’s being completed. If you want to know the intent and purpose of a thing, never ask the thing…ask The Creator!
Why were you born? You were born because there is a specific assignment here on earth that God has in mind that requires your very existence.
Psalm 139:15-16 (Phillips Translation) says, “You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed”.
This very scripture sounds like PURPOSE! He designed and provided us with everything we need to fulfill our assignments. PURPOSE exists in our DNA!
Life without purpose is a life lived haphazardly, filled with disappointment and frustration. Once you understand your purpose you are no longer a victim to the environment around you; you will begin to live a life full of confidence and boldness.
Romans 8:28 (New King James Version) says, “And we know {we are confident} that ALL things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His Purpose”.
This means that no matter what comes up in life whether it is good or bad when you are living a life of purpose everything works for your good.
To everything, there is a season, time and purpose and it is your responsibility to accomplish your God-given assignment at the right time and season. If you have breath in your body, no matter how young or old, you can pursue and complete your purpose! God does not measure your life by how old you are, but did you finish your purpose.
You remember Methuselah?… In the bible, he was 969 years old and that is all anyone remembers of him. Why?… because he never found his purpose, he just lived long. Look at Jesus, he was 33, He Finished His Purpose! Purpose is powerful…like Abraham, age didn’t stop him. Like Joseph, being thrown in prison didn’t derail him from his destiny, and having a barren womb like Sarah, couldn’t stop her purpose. No matter what life throws at you, you can never be finished until you have done what you were born to do.
In 2 Timothy 4:7 (King James Version) The Apostle Paul said, “I have finished my course”, in other words, I have finished my purpose.
Make it your goal to identify, pursue and complete your course (your purpose) while on earth. Never let another person rob you of fulfilling your God-given assignment, your PURPOSE IS PERMANENT!
