Industrial Exchange connects businesses

Orange County Economic Development Corporation and the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce join forces to help local companies and industries.
With the opportunity for local businesses to connect with industrial, the 2018 Industrial Exchange is set for 9 a.m. Thursday, August 16 at the Dr. J. Michael and Bridget Shahan Events Center located at Lamar State College – Orange. The building was recently renamed and was known as Cypress Center.
“There is a lot of projects going on in our area,” Chamber President Ida Schossaw said. “This is an opportunity for local businesses to meet with industries and learn of the opportunities available.”
The event includes meeting Southeast Texas industry representatives to introduce local services and products. A lunch will follow with panel speakers International Ppaer Mill Manager Ed Barr, Site Manager DowDuPont – SRW Jean Algate, ExxonMobil Public Affairs Ashley Alemayehu, and Jefferson Energy Companies Public Affairs Mark Viator as they announce plans to expand their facilities and operations.
ExxonMobil will also speak about its Hire Local initiative.
Supporting partners for the event are Gopher Industrial, International Paper, Oldcastle Materials Gulf Coast and Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas.
“The Industrial Exchange is an opportunity for local service providers and contractors to engage with Southeast Texas industry to facilitate the use of local resources. Southeast Texas is fortunate to be in the midst of an industrial boom,” Orange County Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Jessica Hill said. “The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Orange County Economic Development Corporation are directing those opportunities toward Orange County in order to promote local businesses.”
