UPDATE 2: Preliminary reports indicate that a 2018 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer transporting a hazardous substance was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10, near FM 1132.  The driver of the 18-wheeler failed to drive in a single lane and struck a 2016 Kenworth truck tractor semi-trailer.  The impact of the collision pushed the Kenworth truck tractor into a 2006 Toyota SUV.  After being rear-ended by the 18-wheeler, the Toyota rolled several times before coming to rest on its top.

The driver of the Freightliner, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with unknown injuries.  The driver was transported before Troopers arrived on the scene; therefore, an identification has not been made.

The driver of the Toyota, 32- year-old Hunter Bolin of Louisiana, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with unknown injuries.

The driver of the Kenworth, 26-year-old Marcus Reifert of Georgia, and his passenger were not injured in the crash.

HazMat crews are on the scene to access the stability of the hazardous cargo and to ensure that the cargo is removed from the roadway in the safest and most efficient manner.

At this time, all eastbound traffic lanes and the access road remain closed.  The roadway will remain closed until the wrecked vehicles are safely removed from the roadway.  Motorists are urged to find an alternate travel route.  Expect delays.

UPDATE: At approximately 5:15 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County.  The crash is approximately one (1) mile West of FM 1132.

At this time, all eastbound traffic lanes and access roads are closed.  There is no time estimation as to when the roadway will reopen to traffic.  Motorists are urged to find an alternate travel route.

Preliminary reports indicate that this crash involves hazardous materials.  A HazMat crew is on scene.

A chemical spill is being reported in Vidor on Interstate 10 on Thursday evening.
