Rod Carroll nominated to be the next Vidor Chief of Police

PRESS RELEASE — Vidor City Manager Mike Kunst announces that Rod Carroll is nominated to be the next Chief of Police for the City of Vidor. The Vidor City Council will have a special-called meeting on Monday, November 21 at 7 pm to consider approving the nomination as required by the Vidor City Charter.
Carroll is currently the Assistant Deputy Chief and Public Information Officer for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Carroll was named one of four finalists from the twenty applicants who were interested in the vacancy created by the retirement of Chief Dave Shows. Shows, a thirty-six year Vidor police department veteran who has been the police chief for the past six years, will officially retire on Friday, November 18. Carroll’s first day as the new Vidor police chief is yet to be determined.
Vidor City Council meetings are held at Vidor City Hall located at 1395 North Main Street in Vidor
