Petition signing to be held for Texas independence

A state-wide organization will have two locations in Southeast Texas for a petition signing event to take the first step towards Texas Independence, including one location in Orange County.

The Texas Nationalist Movement will hold a petition signing event at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Tropical Breeze Car Wash, 10499 State Highway 12 in Mauriceville. This location is one of two in Southeast Texas, with the other located at the TNM office at 2703 Ave. H in Nederland, and one of 31 across the State of Texas on Saturday.

According to a press release, the event is the organization’s first major operation to gather approximately 75,000 signatures in hopes of placing a vote for Texas independence on the March 2016 ballot during primary elections.

According to its official website, “the reasons for Texas independence are clear and simple. The people of Texas believe that Texans are best governed by Texans. We are no longer willing to be subjected to policies that we don’t want by people that we don’t elect.”

Signing events will take place in other cities such as Amarillo, Austin, Bryan, Conroe, Houston, Lufkin, Palestine, San Antonio, Tyler, and Waco, among many others.

“It is the largest field operation that has ever been conducted in support of Texas independence,” stated Daniel Miller, president of the Texas Nationalist Movement, in a press release. “It is the first of many to come on our way to 75,000 signatures and a vote on Texas independence.”

Visit www.thetnm.org for more information on this organization and a full list of locations, as well finding the signature pledge page.
