Nancy Carole McCrory Armstrong

Nancy Carole McCrory Armstrong was born in Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas, on December 24, 1942, to her parents Johnie Otha McCrory and Elzie Vera Hill McCrory.  She graduated from Dawson High School in 1960 -1961.  She married Strain Armstrong on October 5, 1963.  They lived in Orange, Texas, where he taught school and she worked for Joiner Insurance Company before enrolling in college at Lamar University where she received her B.S. in Education.  She earned her degree in three years, attending Lamar during the fall and spring semesters and attending North Texas at Denton during the summers.  She taught elementary school in the West Orange-Cove Independent School District for 28 years.  She and Strain had a daughter Jenifer Ann, and a son Josh. They were members of First United Methodist Church and later joined North Orange Baptist Church.

They moved to Liberty Hill, Williamson County, Texas, in 2002.  Nancy was diagnosed with Stage IV parotid gland cancer in late February and fought a courageous fight until the dreaded disease took her life on the evening of September 1, 2017.  She is survived by her husband Strain, daughter Jenifer and her husband, Tom Blackmon, son Josh Armstrong, grandchildren, Brody and Bailey Blackmon, all of Round Rock, and her brother, Oscar Lynn McCrory of Purdon.

A memorial service for Nancy will be held at First Baptist Church Georgetown on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 2’oclock.  Cremated remains will be buried in the Frost Cemetery, Frost, Texas.
