Melba Brown Salonek

Funeral services celebrating the life of Melba Brown Salonek were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 31, 2016 at Colfax United Methodist Church, Colfax Louisiana. Burial was in Colfax Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.

Mrs. Salonek, 86, of Colfax, passed from this life on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at her home.

She was an active member and on the board of St. John United Methodist Church, West Orange, Texas, was active in the Orange Christian Ministries, she was an officer and lifetime member in the Parent-Teacher’s Association and was a founding member of the West Orange Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. Upon moving to Colfax in 1994, she was a member of Colfax United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, exceptional mother and grandmother who will be missed dearly but her memory will be cherished forever.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 60 years, Gene Salonek; son, Eugene William Salonek, Jr. and wife, Carol; daughter, Vickie Salonek Angenend and husband, Michael P.; grandchildren, Jennifer Angenend McKeon, Cpt. Morgan Salonek, USMC and Christina Angenend; great granddaughter, Ella Opal McKeon.
