Due to the normal early morning work traffic on Interstate 10, many of the vehicles traveling westbound were moving slow or were stopped.  A 2015 Chrysler passenger vehicle was traveling westbound in the inside (fast) traffic lane.  The driver of the Chrysler stopped, because traffic had stopped in front of her.  A 2013 Ford Edge was traveling westbound in the inside lane and did not noticed the stopped traffic.  The driver of the Ford Edge failed to control speed and rear-ended a 2014 Hyundai SUV.  The collision caused the Hyundai to rear-end a 2015 Kia passenger vehicle.  After being rear-ended, the Kia collided with a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe.  The impact of this collision caused the Chevrolet to strike the 2015 Chrysler and a 2008 BMW passenger vehicle.

All westbound traffic lanes of Interstate 10 near Boomtown in Vidor were closed for approximately two (2) hours, but have since reopened.

The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe, 80-year-old Mary Jones of Vidor, was transported by ambulance to Baptist hospital in Beaumont; however, the extent of her injuries are unknown at this time.
