Vidor proclaims September as CMT Awareness Month
On Thursday evening, the Vidor City Council proclaimed September as Charcot-Marie-Tooth Awareness Month during a regularly scheduled council meeting. Mayor Robert Viator Jr., at right, presents Angela Beaumont, at center, with the proclamation. Also pictured is 7-year-old Vidor resident Libbie Copeland who was recently diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), which is one of the most common inherited neurological disorders, affecting approximately 1 in 2,500 people in the United States.
