Joseph Pitre, Jr.

Joseph Pitre, Jr., 87, of Orange, Texas, passed away on November 20, 2019, at his home in Orange.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 25, 2019, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange. Officiating will be Father Joseph P. Daleo. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 24, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. A Christian Vigil will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and a recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Born in Franklin, Louisiana, on June 18, 1932, he was the son of Joseph Pitre, Sr. and Ollie V. (Blanchette) Pitre. Joseph proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force. He went on to work as an operator for Chevron for 36 years before retiring. Joseph was a member of the St. Mary’s Senior Group and the Chevron Retirees Group. He enjoyed spending his time dancing, cooking, traveling, painting, drawing, teasing the children in the family, and going to Coushatta. Joseph will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his son, Troy J. Pitre; and his parents, Joseph and Ollie V. Pitre.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sandra (Peveto) Pitre of Orange; his children, Lisa R. Pitre of Orange, and Ryan J. Pitre and wife Julie of Liberty; his grandchildren, Tyson Pitre, Carrie Ingalls and husband James, Dalton Pitre, and Kendall Pitre; his sister, Sister Josephina Pitre O. P. of Houston; and his 8 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Advantage Home Care, Nisha Ready with Heart to Heart Hospice, as well as many family and friends for their thoughts and prayers.
