Betty Louise Murphy

Betty Louise Murphy, 81, of Orange, Texas, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at the Southeast Texas Medical Center, in Port Arthur, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Old First Orange Baptist Church in Orange, Texas with Brother Keith Myers officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Autumn Oaks Cemetery in Orange, Texas. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 PM, at Old First Baptist Church Orange.

Betty was born on Sunday, January 26, 1936, in Oakdale, Louisiana, to parents, Bessie (Henry) and Hugh Gueringer. She was a resident of Orange, Texas for 63 years after moving from Elizabeth, Louisiana. Betty and her husband Charlie were married for 61 Blissful years and have seven children .Betty was a Southern Baptist and a proud member of the Old First Orange Baptist Church. She loved taking care of her family and making many wonderful memories every chance they got. Family dinners were what Betty looked forward to the most, as she got to see her loved ones and hear stories about what was going on in their lives. Going to church to learn about God’s word and to do his work was very important to Betty and her husband, Charlie. They spend many summers helping build churches anywhere it was needed. Betty always took a big part in making all the large breakfast meals to feed all the wonderful workers helping build the churches. Once Charlie retired, they spent more and more time helping build the churches and did so for over 40 years. She took care of everyone, as that was just her loving, nurturing nature. Many people referred to Betty as a caretaker for anyone that needed it. In her spare time, Betty liked to quilt and go visit the Lake to see all the beautiful views.

Preceding Betty in death are her parents, Bessie (Henry) and Hugh Gueringer; three Brothers; two Sisters and grandchildren, Adam Wiegand, Casey Murphy and Samantha Murphy.

Those who will cherish Betty’s memory most are her children, Eric Murphy, Cynthia Bonvillion and husband Mike of Fannet, Texas, David Murphy and wife Roxanna of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Carl Murphy and the late, Dana Hutchins Murphy of Ackerman, Mississippi, Terry Murphy of Orange, Texas, Jerry Murphy and wife Annie of Orange, Texas and Gary Murphy and wife Diane of Wylie, Texas; grandchildren, Joshua, Tim, Chris, Mike, Carlijo, Amber, Jonathan, Grace, Marisa, Aaron and Jacob and 12 great grandchildren.

Betty’s Sons Honoring her as Pallbearers: Eric Murphy, David Murphy, Carl Murphy, Terry Murphy, Jerry Murphy and Gary Murphy.
