Several Southeast Texas softball standouts landed on elite All-State Teams that was recently announced by the Texas Girls High School Coaches Association.
Bridge City’s Kaleigh Carter, Skylar Kahla and Hannah Faulk along with Orangefield’s Ashton Gautreaux each made the Class 4A All-State Academic Team.
To make Academic All-State, student athletes must have an overall grade-point average of 94 or above. They must be a varsity participant in good standing and be of good moral character.
Carter, a catcher, was the Orange Leader Team’s Defensive Player of the Year and was a All-District 24-4A selection.
Kahla, a first baseman, was a member of the All-Leader Team. Gautreaux was a First Team selection at third base on both the All-Leader Team and the 24-4A All-District unit.
All four of the players honored played key roles in helping lead their teams to the playoffs.
Carter, Kahla and Faulk were instrumental in leading the Lady Cardinals to the 24-4A title and a trip to the 4A Region III quarterfinals of the playoffs while Gautreaux helped pace the Lady Bobcats to a third-place finish in 24-4A and a trip to the bidistrict playoffs.
In Class 5A, Vidor’s Keeli Milligan was a All-State selection as she helped lead the Lady Pirates to the District 22-5A crown. Also, Nederland’s Savana Guidry made the 5A elite unit and she aided the Lady Bulldogs in their trip to the bidistrict round of the playoffs.
Making Academic All-State in Class 3A were Kirbyville’s Christa Pickett, Devan Smith and Kaitlyn Willis.
