Students from West Orange – Cove CISD have been busy with holiday activities within our campuses, as well as outside of our schools and within our community.

In November, fourth-graders at West Orange-Stark Elementary performed at the City of West Orange’s Holiday in the Park. This month, campus choral groups have continued local performances.

North Early Learning Center students who were kind, caring and made good choices were chosen by their teachers to participate in singing Christmas songs for a presentation of area school holiday choirs to be broadcast on Fox4 and Channel 6 television. The program will air on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Additionally, WOS Middle School and the WOS High School varsity choir performed for Kinsel Toyota’s Parade of Choirs.

The WOS High School junior varsity choir performed for the Salvation Army at the West Orange Walmart. While there, the group rang the bell for the organization. Additionally, the varsity choir also performed for the Rotary Club of Orange.

All of our campuses were excited to participate in the Granger Chevrolet/KOGT Tenth Annual Canned Food Drive to benefit the Salvation Army and Orange Christian Services. North Early Learning Center students presented items. The WOS Elementary National Honor Society sponsored their respective campus drive.  Collectively, the elementary campus gathered over 1311 pounds of canned goods. Two other WOS groups, the WOS Middle School Student Council and the Early College High School (ECHS) at WOS High School presented canned goods at the event. Middle School presented over 1200 food items, while ECHS Cohorts 1, 2, and 3 each participated. Alone, the ECHS Class of 2022 presented over 600 pounds of canned goods!  

 On the very same day as the canned food drive, our primary and secondary campuses also participated in the Service League of Orange’s Toy Coffee to benefit the Salvation Army.

WOS Elementary’s Student Council, comprised of 20 fifth grade students, led their campus toy drive that resulted in more than 90 items. The WOS Middle School Student Council collected 80-plus toys and gift cards.

Thank you to parents, family members, and community members who supported our students in these projects to support our local agencies!

 Finally, 100 WOS High School students who represented all types of campus organizations and groups, volunteered to work with Dow Chemical Company, The Pack Shack, and community volunteers to create food packages for Feed the Funnel. This amazing outreach produced close to 40,300 food packages for local distribution. Our students loved the invitation to participate and enjoyed the experiences gained from working in this highly organized project.
