Rebuild Texas Fund awarded a total of over $2.2M in the region to reimburse the Vidor Independent School District for Harvey damages, to make critical roof repairs to school facilities in West Orange Cove ISD and to enhance the operations for Missions on Wheels to name a few.

June Grantees are:

• $1,000,000 to Region 5 Education Service Center on behalf of Vidor Independent School District to meet the FEMA local cost share towards cleaning and repairing buildings for the temporary Oak Forest Elementary and Vidor Middle School campuses, as well as the construction of the new Oak Forest Elementary School campus.
• $500,559 to Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISDto meet the FEMA local cost share to clean and repair buildings and replace district content items.
• $578,565 to the West Orange Cove CISDto make critical roof repairs to school facilities.
• $165,000 to Missions on Wheels to continue operations for one year and add necessary capacity to the organization.

Vidor School District released a statement:

Vidor Independent School District was recently notified that we have received a $1 million grant from Rebuild Texas to aid with our Harvey recovery efforts.  As you may know, we still have Oak Forest Elementary School and Vidor Middle School campuses meeting in portable buildings. 

This grant is an important part of our rebuilding process as we provide adequate facilities for our displaced students and work to rebuild the two campuses which received flood damage.
