VIDEO: Rollover crash on Interstate 10 in Orange closed road for approximately an hour on Sunday

PRESS RELEASE — On April 28, 2019, at approximately 7:45p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a rollover Crash in Orange County. The crash occurred near FM 1442.
A Toyota passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10. For an unknown reason, the driver lost control and traveled off the road. In an attempt to get the vehicle back onto the roadway, the driver over-corrected causing the vehicle to rollover several times before coming to rest. Upon impact, the vehicle caught fire.
The driver, 43-year-old David Nelson of Port Neches, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries. Nelson was not wearing a seat belt.
The eastbound traffic lanes were closed, but reopened to traffic about an hour later.
This is an active investigation and there are no additional details at this time.
